Dick’s 5 & 10 store has been a Branson shopping destination and downtown landmark for over 50 years. Many of our visitors remark that browsing our aisles brings back memories as they spot items they haven’t seen in years, while younger shoppers get excited about the huge selection of treasures they’ve never seen before. Even those who just stop in for a look around often find themselves spending an hour or more exploring. Dick’s Oldtime 5 & 10 is definitely among the best shopping in Branson!

Our History History-Dicks-5-10

Dick’s 5 & 10 opened in downtown Branson in 1961, and while the city has changed in monumental ways in the 55 years since, the store remains a fixture in Branson shopping. It has changed locations only once, in 1970 when founder Dick Hartley was able to upgrade from his original 1500 sq ft store to the 10,000 sq ft location on Main Street that you see today. Dick’s vision for a variety store stocked with a little bit of everything lives on, as does his idea to make the store more interesting by decorating with one of a kind collections and antiques. Dick was the store’s sole employee for the first few years of operation and he continued working at Dick’s 5 & 10 until he passed away in 2006 at the age of 80.  It continues to be a family business, with Dick’s wife and son still instrumental in the store’s operation today.

We come to Branson once a year. Dick’s is one of our stops. The store brings back memory’s of when I was growing up. Some of the products you I have not seen in many years. Our favorite is the red cinnamon vines candy. We can not find them any were else we have looked every where. When we are in the store there is always something we have to buy.

We will see you next year when we come up from Universal City, Texas.
